Claire Denarie-Soffietti, 1923

Born and raised in Versailles, Claire Denarie-Soffietti was an autodidactic art student from the outset.

After eight years living in Barbados and four children, the artist and her husband (an Italian architect) decided to settle for good and now reside in beautiful Dolphin Coast of South Africa.

Denarie works have evolved over the years.

From depicting quiet moments: serene portraits; a tranquil woodland path; a woman lounging on a chair, to Pink Elephants to Charlie Chaplin’s and Coco Chanel's.

However, the colours are more intense in reality, while the compositions are so tightly framed that they become dynamic, and the portrait subjects never reveal all to the viewer.

Denarie’s figures have secrets, and hint at an interior world within the picture frame.

It is her wonderfully palpable painting style and bold colour choice that makes the 2D picture world seem more real than our very own.

There is this element of distortion evident in her pieces.

Nata e cresciuta a Versailles, Claire Denarie-Soffietti è stata fin dall'inizio una studentessa d'arte autodidatta.

Dopo otto anni vissuti alle Barbados e quattro figli, l'artista e suo marito (un architetto italiano) hanno deciso di stabilirsi definitivamente e ora risiedono nella bellissima Dolphin Coast del Sud Africa.

Le opere di Denarie si sono evolute nel corso degli anni.

Dalla rappresentazione di momenti tranquilli: ritratti sereni; un tranquillo sentiero nel bosco; una donna sdraiata su una sedia, a Pink Elephants, a Charlie Chaplin e Coco Chanel.

Tuttavia, i colori sono più intensi nella realtà, mentre le composizioni sono così fitte da diventare dinamiche, ed i soggetti dei ritratti non rivelano mai tutto allo spettatore.

Le figure di Denarie hanno segreti e suggeriscono un mondo interiore all’interno della cornice.

È il suo stile pittorico meravigliosamente palpabile e la scelta audace dei colori che rendono il mondo delle immagini 2D più reale del nostro.

C'è questo elemento di distorsione evidente nei suoi pezzi.
