Dirk Smorenberg (1883-1960) | Art Déco painter

Dirk Smorenberg is considered as one of the few Dutch Art Déco🎨 painters.

Smorenberg was born in Alkmaar, North Holland. He started painting in 1906 on a professional base.

He travelled to St. Ives as an artist/painter in the beginning of the World War I.

He also worked in Switzerland not far from Montreux and in 1910-1911 in the USA.

There he exhibited with Piet Mondrian🎨 in New York City.

He settled down in the beginning of the twenties in the lake district of Loosdrecht where he lived until he died in September 1960.

He painted in a decorative way.

Dirk Smorenberg è considerato uno dei pochi pittori Olandesi🎨 dell'Art Dèco🎨.

Smorenberg è nato ad Alkmaar, nell'Olanda Settentrionale.

Ha iniziato a dipingere nel 1906 su base professionale.

Ha viaggiato a St. Ives come artista / pittore all'inizio della prima guerra mondiale.

Ha anche lavorato in Svizzera non lontano da Montreux e nel 1910-1911 negli Stati Uniti.

Lì espose con Piet Mondrian🎨 a New York City.

Si stabilì all'inizio degli anni venti nel distretto lacustre di Loosdrecht dove visse fino alla sua morte nel settembre 1960.

Dipinse in modo decorativo. Le ninfee sul lago erano uno dei suoi amati soggetti.
