Rembrandt | The Night Watch, 1642

Militia Company of District II under the Command of Captain Frans Banninck Cocq, also known as The Shooting Company of Frans Banning Cocq and Willem van Ruytenburch, but commonly referred to as The Night Watch (Dutch: De Nachtwacht), is a 1642 painting by Rembrandt van Rijn.
It is in the collection of the Amsterdam Museum but is prominently displayed in the Rijksmuseum as the best-known painting in its collection.

The Night Wahtc is one of the most famous Dutch Golden Age paintings.
Rembrandt's large painting (363x437 cm (12 by 14+1⁄2 feet)) is famed for transforming a group portrait of a civic guard company into a compelling drama energized by light and shadow (tenebrism).
The title is a misnomer; the painting does not depict a nocturnal scene.

Giovanni Battista Moroni | Mannerist painter

Giovanni Battista Moroni (1520/4-1579) is one of the most famous North Italian portrait specialists of the 16th century.
He was a native of Albino, near Bergamo.
In his early years he worked in Brescia and at Trent (1551-2).
Later altarpieces and portraits were painted for clients in and around Bergamo and Albino, where he settled in 1561.
His portraits have great psychological penetration, which owes less to his master and more to the Venetian tradition of portraiture as it had been evolved by Giorgione and Titian. | Source: © The National Gallery, London

In 1882 the sculptor Auguste Rodin agreed to supervise a small group of young women students, one of whom was the seventeen-year-old Camille Claudel.

Keishi Sakurai / 桜井 敬史 graduated from the Tokyo University of Arts in 1999, with major in Nihonga (Japanese Painting).
Keishi applies natural mineral pigments, rock paint, natural stone and hide glue on Japanese paper to create his paintings.
