Paul Schulenburg, 1957

After receiving a gold medal from the National Scholastic Art Awards in 1975, Paul attended Boston University School of Fine Arts.
Contrary to the trends of that time, Boston University provided an educational foundation that emphasized the fundamentals of classical art training: anatomy and form, color, composition and draftsmanship.
His professors included Joseph Ablow, David Aronson, and John Wilson.
He received his BFA degree in painting in 1979.

Mara Light, 1970

Mara Light was born in New York, and raised in Southern California from the age of three.
She comes from a family of visual artists.
"Painting seemed very natural to me since my early years growing up", says Mara.
She considers herself extremely fortunate to have been given the opportunity to be around parents who look at the world in an artistic, visual way.
She was encouraged, and at times pushed, to make her very personal artistic expression part of her life.

In those 9 years in Florence I alternated study and work, as an artist, advertising illustrator, comics designer and advertising art director.

Edward Atkinson Hornel (1864-1933)

Edward Atkinson Hornel (1864-1933) was a Scottish painter of landscapes, flowers and foliage, with children.
He was a cousin of James Hornell. His contemporaries in the Glasgow Boys called him Ned Hornel.
Hornel was born in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, Australia, of Scottish parents, and he was brought up and lived practically all his life in Scotland after his family moved back to Kirkcudbright in 1866.

Karl Wilhelm Bauerle (1831-1912)

Karl Wilhelm Friedrich Bauerle - (also: Carl Bauerle/Bowerley) - (1831-1912) was a German painter who achieved international fame as a portrait painter at German courts and later at the British one Court of Queen Victoria.
Little has been published about Karl Wilhelm Friedrich Bauerle.
He emigrated to Ohio, learned to engrave from an uncle in Cincinnati, then returned to Stuttgart to pursue a career as a children's portraitist and genre painter (his patrons included Prince of Hohenlohe-Langenburg, Queen Victoria, Edward Prince of Wales).
