Gary Benfield, 1965 | Figurative / Wildlife painter

Gary Benfield, British painter🎨, studied art at Stourbridge College of art and at Wrexham College of Art. In 1986 Benfield became a professional freelance illustrator. After leaving the academic world he set up his own studio near London and concentrated on drawing and painting figures.

Within a few years his work was collected throughout Europe and his reputation firmly established. Benfield has a natural talent for depicting things as seen. His work is spontaneous and is reflected by his drawn lines and dashes of color.

Sandro Botticelli | Al servizio dei Medici

Le frequentazioni di Botticelli nella cerchia della famiglia dei Medici furono indubbiamente utili per garantirgli protezione e le numerose commissioni eseguite nell'arco di circa vent'anni.

Nel 1475 dipinse il gonfalone per la giostra tenutasi in piazza Santa Croce raffigurante Simonetta Vespucci, musa dalla bellezza epica per tutta la carriera dell'artista, che fu vinto da Giuliano de' Medici.

Nel 1478, dopo la congiura dei Pazzi in cui morì lo stesso Giuliano, a Botticelli fu chiesto di effigiare come appesi i condannati in contumacia su cartelloni da attaccare sul Palazzo della Signoria, lato Porta della Dogana, come anni prima aveva fatto Andrea del Castagno nel 1440 per il complotto antimediceo degli Albizi, che aveva valso all'artista in soprannome di "Andrea degli Impiccati".

Chiaro è come Sandro avesse pienamente abbracciato la causa dei Medici, che lo accolsero sotto la loro ala dandogli la possibilità di creare opere di grandissimo prestigio.

Angelo Batti, 1933 | Genre painter

Italian painter Angelo Batti, was born in Sora - Frosinone in 1933.

After art school, he attended the studio dell'acquerellista German, John Brasch, graduated from the Academy of Berlin.

Aaron Westerberg, 1974 | Figurative painter

Aaron Westerberg is an American painter whose graceful work has earned him a quietly passionate yet well deserved following.

His work is constructed in the language of the coolly sensual aesthetics of late nineteenth century American painting, the somber gilded beauty of James McNeill Whistler, what we see in Westerberg is a similar way of working with luminous vibrant color, and tonality contrasted with matte areas of pigment.

The contemporary artist notes his adoration of John Singer Sargent.

Nello Iovine, 1935 | Genre painter

Nello Iovine was born in Cava dei Tirreni (Salerno), Italy in 1935. He lived in Salerno and Verbania on the shores of Lake Maggiore.

After many years he returned to Battipaglia, Italy.

Iovine specialized in figurative and portrait paintings. A classic style painter he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples where he was a pupil of Professor Guido Casciaro.

His artistic career started in 1954 at the age of 18 when he held his first solo exhibition in Salerno. In the 1960’s he was discovered by Arnot Gallery, who commissioned a long series of paintings.

Fongwei Liu | Impressionist Figurative painter

Fongwei Liu received his BFA degree from the prestigious Fine Art Academy of Yunnan, China in 1994. For more than a decade after graduation, Fongwei has ventured in various fields, but didn’t touched his paint brush.

Until 2007, he finally realized that art is his true passion, and resumed his art education in the United States.

Fongwei received his MFA degree from Academy of Art University, San Francisco in 2009.

Jean-Gabriel Domergue | Pin-Up painter

Jean-Gabriel Domergue (1889-1962) was a French painter specialising in portraits of Parisian women. He went on to paint approximately 3.000 portraits.

Domergue invented a new type of woman: thin, airy, elegant, with a swan like neck and wide seductive eyes which gaze upon the world with longing.

Laurie Kersey, 1961

La vita dell'artista di Laurie Kersey è iniziata nelle zone rurali dell'Ohio. È cresciuta in una famiglia artistica e ha sempre amato disegnare e dipingere.

Sua madre amava dipingere a olio quando Laurie era giovane e poi passò agli acquerelli. Suo padre era un cavaliere, addestrava e correva cavalli finiti, e trascorreva le sue estati aiutando nella stalla dell'ippodromo.

Dopo una prima educazione artistica presso l'Art Institute di Pittsburgh e poi una carriera di 15 anni nell'arte commerciale come Art Director ed Illustrator sulla costa orientale, Kersey si è trasferita a San Francisco, ha studiato pittura all'Academy of Art University e ha fatto il passaggio alle belle arti.

In seguito ha insegnato pittura e disegno al Dipartimento di Belle Arti dell'Accademia.
