The following collection include the Bust gallery in the collections of the Louvre Museum, Paris.
Musée du Louvre is the world's largest art museum and an historic monument in Paris, France.
The museum opened on 10 August 1793 with an exhibition of 537 paintings, the majority of the works being royal and confiscated church property. Because of structural problems with the building, the museum was closed in 1796-1801.

Frank Buchser | Orientalist painter

Frank Buchser (1828-1890) was a Swiss painter.
Buchser was born on 15 August, 1828 near Solothurn in Switzerland.
At the age of 18 years he was apprenticed to a piano builder.
However, his apprenticeship ended abruptly when the master found him in bed with his daughter.

Ernest Biéler | Art Nouveau painter

Ernest Biéler (July 31, 1863 in Rolle, Switzerland- June 25, 1948 in Lausanne) was a multi-talented Swiss painter, draughtsman and printmaker.
He worked in oil, tempera, watercolour, gouache, ink, charcoal, pastels, acrylic and pencil.
He also created mosaics and stained glass windows.
After completing his education in Lausanne, he studied at the Académie Julian in Paris.

Johan-Laurents Jensen | Still life painter

Jensen's work has been largely influenced by the great 18th century Dutch Master, Jan Van Huysum.
Danish painter Johan-Laurents Jensen (1800-1856) was born on March 8, 1800, in Gjentofte, near Copenhagen. He began his formal art training at the age of 14, studying under Fritzsch at the Copenhagen Academy, where he won medals in 1817-1818.
