Retro Atelier | Ritorno al fascino che fù

Retro Atelier is a Ukraine-based collective that creates stunning conceptual photography inspired by days gone by.

Its collection features a wide array of series from Art Nouveau-inspired images to unique styles reminiscent of early Art Deco, Pin-Up and glamor photography.

Of the company’s work, Retro Atelier says, “the styles of bygone days, vintage photographs, painting, cinematography and our love for these kinds of art made the work, we moved from dreams to actions”.

Haddon Hubbard | Pin-up painter

Haddon Hubbard "Sunny" Sundblom (1899-1976) was an American artist of Finnish and Swedish descent, best known for the images of Santa Claus he created for The Coca-Cola Company.

Sundblom's friend Lou Prentice was the original model for the illustrator's Santa.

Sundblom was born in Muskegon, Michigan to a Swedish-speaking family.

His father, Karl Wilhelm Sundblom, came from the farm Norrgårds in the village of Sonboda in Föglö of the Swedish-speaking part of Åland Islands, then part of the Russian Grand Duchy of Finland now Finland, and his mother Karin Andersson was from Sweden.

New Orleans painter Betsy Brown is delighting us for years. Her unique ability for diversity is part of her large appeal. She can take us to the quaint towns of Yarmouth and Asheville with their sense of family heritage. Betsy brings us to the sultry streets of New Orleans where one can almost hear the mellow sounds of Carmen Leggio’s tenor sax. Alluring European landscapes capture our eyes with the way she creates the magic of distance and the penetrating effect of color and light.

Perhaps it is her attention to detail or the broader effect. Whatever the reason, what touches Betsy personally seems to affect so many others drawn to her work.

Sergio Cozzuol, 1941 | Venice painting

Italian painter Sergio Cozzuol was born in Pola in 1941 and later moved to Genoa. He began his studies under the guide of Professor Giuseppe Rigon, a famous scenographer at “La Scala”, the opera theatre in Milan. Then he attended the School of Arts in Vicenza, northern Italy, with Professors Giuseppe De Pellegrini and Otello De Maria. Sergio Cozzuol paints miniatures on precious materials such as gold, ivory or copper paying great attention even to the smallest detail. His work seems to date back to 18th century; he uses soft tones which can be suddenly enlightened by a ray of sun or obscured by the grey and foggy skies of the northern towns. Indeed, he can be considered a follower of Impressionism, a movement of the 1860s.
