Victor François Tardieu (30 April 1870, Orliénas - 12 June 1937, Hanoi) was a French painter; cofounder of what is now known as the Vietnam University of Fine Arts.

In 1887, he was admitted to the École nationale des beaux-arts de Lyon.

After two years there, he transferred to the Académie Julian in Paris, where he studied for a year.

His parents felt grateful on the birth of their fifth child.

They named the infant Buu Giam with a fateful meaning: Preserving the Precious and the Beautiful.

Already in elementary school, his teachers loved to have him come to the chalkboard and draw pictures so other children could copy.

He graduated from Industrial Graphics of Dong Nai Fine Arts University in 1989.

After 4 years being photographers, Dương Quốc Định achieved 10s of national and international rewards.

In March, 2007, Duong Quoc Dinh was one of the 10 excellent artists rewarded and highly appreciated by Dong Nai People Committee.

Lê Phổ / 黎谱 (1907-2001) was a French-Vietnamese painter, best known for his stylized depictions of figures, gardens and floral still lifes.

From 1925-1930, Lê Phổ studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Hanoi.

At this point, he earned a scholarship to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and he studied there for the next two years under the instruction of Victor Tardieu, a friend and companion of Henri Matisse.

Upon returning to Vietnam he taught at the École Supérieure des Beaux Arts de l'Indochine in Hanoi.

Vu Cao Dam (1908-2000)

La diga di Vu Cao è nata nel 1908 ad Hanoi, nel Vietnam del Nord.

Ha iniziato la sua educazione formale presso l'École des Beaux Arts di Hanoi, quando aveva ventitré anni gli è stata assegnata una borsa di studio che gli ha permesso di studiare e viaggiare in Francia.

Trasferitosi a Parigi nel 1932 dopo aver ottenuto la borsa di studio per ulteriori studi di scultura, in seguito lasciò la scultura per la pittura.

Nel 1949 si trasferì nel sud della Francia dove divenne vicino di casa di Marc Chagall, che ebbe una grande influenza sul suo lavoro.

Vũ Cao Đàm (1908-2000) was a Vietnamese painter.

He was one of the alumni of Victor Tardieu's École des Beaux-Arts de l’Indochine in Hanoi in the 1930s, along with Mai Trung Thứ, Lê Phổ and woman painter Lê Thị Lựu to emigrate to France and make a career in Paris.
