María Berrío, 1982 | Magic Realism painter

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Brooklyn-based Maria Berrio is a contemporary artist primarily known for her prismatic, large-scale paper collages.
The artist completed her BFA at the Parsons School of Design in 2004, after which she received her MFA at the New York School of Visual Arts in 2007.
Berrio’s work sees her filter memories of her childhood spent on a farm in Colombia, and her subsequent experience with migration, through the lens of her studio practice.

Francisco Antonio Cano | Horizontes, 1913


"Horizons" is considered Cano's masterpiece.
"Horizons" epitomizes the idealized migrant family.
It portrays a young, fair-skinned colono family - consisting of a husband, wife, and child - sitting on a bluff, surrounded by mountains.
The three members of the family are likened to the Holy family, with the woman dressed in blue and white like the Virgin Mary, with a baby on her lap.

Dorian Florez is an artist from Colombia. He was born in Caldas Antioquia. He studied clinical psychology in University of Paris in the period 1982-1988.
At the same time, he was attending School of Fine Arts in Nantes (France) from 1983-1985.

At age 17 he was already studying at the Art Students League of New York.

Rafael Espitia is a renowned Columbian contemporary artist who has spent last thirty years honing his unique style of colorful surrealism.

Jorge Luis Rosensvaig was born in Barranquilla, Colombia.
He studied architecture at the Universidad Piloto de Colombia in Bogotá (1972-1974) and later Fine Arts at the Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires (Argentina, 1975-1979).
He completes his education between 1976 and 1983 with the workshops "Drawing and color" - Workshop David Mansur, Drawing with David Loockharta in Barranquilla and Color with Arturo Ludueña in Buenos Aires.
