Geneviève Daël, 1947 | Interior scenes painter

Geneviève Daël was born in Paris and continues to live and work in Montmartre.

She studied Decorative Arts at the Académie Charpentier.

After a brief period spent living in London she returned to Paris, where she began to study painting independently, and worked as a model for Dior while developing her artistic practice.

Her first solo exhibition was held in 1984 with Francis Kyle, London, with whom she had nine further solo shows, along with many themed group exhibitions.

Her mysterious and atmospheric interior scenes often include meditative female figures viewed in profile or from behind.

While depicting the elegant interiors of France and Italy, the lyrical atmosphere of her works shares an affinity with the Northern European traditions of the Dutch Golden Age and Vilhelm Hammershøi.

Geneviève Daël è nata a Parigi nel 1947 e continua a vivere e lavorare a Montmartre.

Ha studiato Arti Decorative all'Académie Charpentier.

Dopo un breve periodo trascorso a Londra torna a Parigi, dove inizia a studiare pittura in modo indipendente e lavora come modella per Dior sviluppando la sua pratica artistica.

La sua prima mostra personale si è tenuta nel 1984 con Francis Kyle, Londra, con il quale ha tenuto altre nove mostre personali, insieme a molte mostre collettive a tema.

Le sue scene di interni misteriose e suggestive includono spesso figure femminili meditative viste di profilo o da dietro.

Pur raffigurando gli interni eleganti di Francia ed Italia, l'atmosfera lirica delle sue opere condivide un'affinità con le tradizioni nordeuropee dell'età dell'oro olandese e di Vilhelm Hammershøi.
