Willy Brandes (1876-1946) was a German painter.

Willy Brandes was born in Bornstädt near Potsdam.

At a young age he began an apprenticeship as a decorative painter.

He studied under Albert Hertel (1843-1912) and Paul Friedrich Meyerheim (1842-1915) at the Berlin Academy and later was a master student of Eugen Bracht (1842-1921).

Brandes exhibited several times at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition.

In 1914 he founded the group "die Aehre" with other painters.

An exhibition by the artist group "die Aehre" with the participation of Willy Brandes took place in 1924 in the Berlin Salon Eduard Schulte, Unter den Linden.

During the Nazi era, Brandes was a member of the Reich Chamber of Fine Arts and the National Socialist Front Fighters' Association of Visual Artists.

There is evidence that he was represented at at least ten exhibitions during this time, including the spring exhibitions of the Front Fighters' Association in Berlin in 1939 and 1940.
