Reinaldo Arenas (1943-1990) è stato un poeta, romanziere e drammaturgo Cubano, noto come critico vocale di Fidel Castro, della Rivoluzione cubana e del governo cubano.

Il suo libro di memorie sul movimento dissidente cubano e sull'essere un prigioniero politico, "Prima che sia notte", fu dettato dopo la sua fuga negli Stati Uniti, durante l'Esodo di Mariel del 1980 e pubblicato postumo, dopo che Arenas, che stava morendo di AIDS, si suicidò per overdose di pillole.

Reinaldo Arenas (1943-1990) was a Cuban poet, novelist, and playwright known as a vocal critic of Fidel Castro, the Cuban Revolution and the Cuban government.

His memoir of the Cuban dissident movement and of being a political prisoner, "Before Night Falls", was dictated after his escape to the United States during the 1980 Mariel boatlift and published posthumously, after Arenas, who was dying of AIDS, committed suicide with an overdose of pills.
