Josef Büche (February 29, 1848 in Vienna - August 13, 1917 in Linz-Urfahr) was an Austrian portrait painter.

Born the son of a painter, Büche studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Eduard von Engerth and Carl Wurzinger.

He received an overall study award.

Büche portrayed many members of the Austrian imperial family and other distinguished personalities.

From 1881 to 1901 he worked in Innsbruck.

In 1883 he became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus.

In addition to his own works, he also restored works by other painters.

Büche illustrated the "Austro-Hungarian monarchy in words and pictures".
