Raoul Du Gardier | Genre / seascape painter

Raoul Alfred Henri Robert du Gardier (1 April 1871 - 17 October 1952) was a French painter.
He was born in Wiesbaden (Ger), the son of a very wealthy French family.
In 1890 he studied at the Écoles des Beaux Arts in Paris under Gustave Moreau, Théobald Chartran, Élie Delaunay and Albert Maignan.



Raoul du Gardier mainly painted genre pictures, seascapes and worked as a book illustrator.

He first exhibited in Paris in 1897 at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he received an honourable mention.
He also received a bronze medal at the 1900 Universale Exposition.
From then on he regularly participated in the various Salons often receiving acknowledgement and awards.

He was also shown at the Salon de Brussels in 1910.
His work was part of the art competitions at the 1928 Summer Olympics and the 1932 Summer Olympics.

Nacque a Wiesbaden (Ger), figlio di una ricca famiglia francese.
Nel 1890 studiò all'Écoles des Beaux Arts di Parigi con Gustave Moreau, Théobald Chartran, Élie Delaunay ed Albert Maignan.


Raoul du Gardier dipinse principalmente quadri di genere, paesaggi marini e lavorò come illustratore di libri.
Espose per la prima volta a Parigi nel 1897 al Salon des Artistes Français, dove riceve una menzione d'onore.
Ricevette anche una medaglia di bronzo all'Esposizione Universale del 1900.

Da allora partecipa regolarmente ai vari Saloni ricevendo spesso riconoscimenti e premi.
Fu anche esposto al Salon de Brussels nel 1910.
Il suo lavoro faceva parte delle competizioni artistiche alle Olimpiadi estive del 1928 e alle Olimpiadi estive del 1932.
