Shaun Smith | Ocean Waves

Shaun Smith is a playful water photographer who sees the bright side in the smallest things in life.

Like many surfers before him, Shaun started bringing a camera in the water to shoot his friends and document his own rides, as a way to relive the fun.

Growing up on the coast of California, Shaun started swimming age two, took to bodyboarding at seven and hasn’t stopped since.

"I love the feeling of getting barreled. There's really nothing else like it".

Starting at the Wedge and staring down barrels, Shaun found his style in the mini-waves movement, capturing in ripples the universal beauty of undulating water.

Shaun Smith is obsessed with listening to the call of the ocean, using the lens to record the mood of the sea, the dance of the waves in the wind, like the lonely but not lonely soul of the sea.

Under the lens of the Austrian photographer Shaun Smith, the waves shaken by the sea breeze are "stagnated" in the air, as if they were frozen by a magician.

Every wave that is photographed has its unique shape.

It seems that at the moment of being imprisoned by Shaun Smith's lens, he wants to tell his own "story".

Come molti surfisti prima di lui, Shaun ha iniziato a portare una macchina fotografica in acqua per riprendere i suoi amici e documentare le sue uscite, come un modo per rivivere il divertimento.

Cresciuto sulla costa della California, Shaun ha iniziato a nuotare all'età di due anni, ha iniziato a fare bodyboard a sette e da allora non ha più smesso.

"Amo la sensazione di essere sballottato. Non c'è davvero nient'altro di simile".

Partendo dal Wedge e fissando i barili, Shaun ha trovato il suo stile nel movimento delle mini-onde, catturando in increspature la bellezza universale dell'acqua ondeggiante.

Shaun Smith è ossessionato dall'ascoltare il richiamo dell'oceano, usando l'obiettivo per registrare l'atmosfera del mare, la danza delle onde nel vento, come l'anima solitaria ma non sola del mare.

Sotto l'obiettivo del fotografo austriaco Shaun Smith, le onde agitate dalla brezza marina sono "ristagnate" nell'aria, come se fossero congelate da un mago.

Ogni onda fotografata ha la sua forma unica. Sembra che nel momento in cui viene imprigionato dall'obiettivo di Shaun Smith, voglia raccontare la propria "storia".
