Michele Petrelli | Modern impressionist painter

Michele Petrelli contemporary Italian artist was keening about painting from when he was very young and he graduated from the Art School in 1991.

In 1999 he obtained the title of technical designer.

He says about himself: "I am an enceph in a glass vial. I am a visual-auditory-tactile artist. I do not despise the material thought wandering in the spirit and in the humour".

During the first part of his life he did not have much painting.

He drew horrible figures that seem to come from his emotional states. they were monochromatic designs with a strong black presence.

From 2008, Petrelli lives happily with his partner away from the city. He has painted a lot in these years.

Eclectic and visionary artist, Michele demonstrates an intuitive instinct for handling his pencil and paintbrush, and a palpable fascination with the human form and physiognomy. Some of his subjects often lose their contours, with details engulfed by colour and expressive brushstrokes.

He painting impressions of the mind accurately imprinted and conserved on canvas. Drawing is a key element of his work and often dominates his compositions.

The subjects of his later paintings are mysterious and disturbing characters, humorous transfigurations of common people, deities or monsters.

Michele Petrelli è un artista Italiano che dipinge principalmente figure e ritratti non contestualizzati. Essi galleggiano su sfondi diluiti, immersi in un'aura di mistero.

Ogni espressione e tocco sembrano riferirsi ad una caduta nell'abisso. Tuttavia dalle sue rappresentazioni emerge un percorso di ascesa nella luce. L'uomo da naufrago torna lentamente alla conoscenza di se stesso.

Petrelli non ama il soggetto realistico, patinato e rifinito. È invece interessato a tutto ciò che è decadente, introspettivo, rifugiato nel proprio essere. Ed è per questo che tutti i suoi personaggi sembrano distaccati dal mondo con tutta la sofferenza che ne deriva.

Le tecniche preferite sono la pittura ad olio e la pittura acrilica. Petrelli è sempre affascinato da tutto ciò che è nuovo e sperimentale.

Il suo stile può essere descritto come Impressionismo moderno.

Questa connotazione è molto evidente anche nei suoi disegni.

Tra i suoi soggetti, degni di nota sono i ritratti di dame rinascimentali. Spesso è ispirato dai volti delle attrici o di fanciulle sconosciute.

Esse appaiono trasformate in antiche signore settecentesche. Gli ultimi suoi lavori sono il risultato di un evidente incrocio tra pittura e disegno.

I ritratti emergono da strati di pittura disordinati, quasi mai corrispondenti ai limiti lineari che pone il disegno sottostante, completamente visibile.
