Fabio Cipolla was an Italian painter🎨 who was trained in Rome, where acquired considerable skill in the study of the figure to be composed in refined genre scenes, he also devoted himself to the landscape painting.

With studies of oriental figures he made his first appearance at the exhibitions in Milan in 1879 and in Turin in 1880, and in the following years he developed the adoption of a mannered narrative realism on genre subjects.

Present above all at the Roman exhibitions (1882, Civetta; La vedova di Naim; 1884, Olevano, A sedici anni, Margherita; 1886, Natale) found a good reception on the French market.

From the end of the century he also painted furniture paintings (Autumn in the city, Winter, recently appeared on the market) without abandoning the landscape (La nebbia, exhibited at the exhibition "In arte Libertas" of 1902), for which he also adopted tempera and 'watercolor (Venetian memories, Interior of the village, Rome, Municipal Gallery of Modern Art).

From 1904 he was part of the group of the "XXV della Campagna Romana".

Fabio Cipolla (Roma, 1852 – Roma, 1935) è stato un pittore Italiano. Formatosi a Roma ed acquistata una considerevole abilità nello studio della figura da comporre in rifinite scene di genere, Fabio Cipolla si dedicò anche al paesaggio e dal 1875 è documentato nella colonia di artisti che dipingevano nelle campagne di Olevano Romano.

Con studi di figure orientali fece la prima comparsa alle mostre di Milano del 1879 e di Torino del 1880, e negli anni seguenti sviluppò su soggetti di genere l'adozione di un manierato verismo narrativo.

Presente soprattutto alle mostre romane (1882, Civetta; 1883, La vedova di Naim; 1884, Olevano, A sedici anni, Margherita; 1886, Natale) trovò buona accoglienza nel mercato francese.

Dalla fine del secolo eseguì anche quadri di arredo (Autunno in città, Inverno, apparsi recentemente sul mercato) senza abbandonare il paesaggio (La nebbia, esposto alla Mostra “In arte Libertas” del 1902), per i quali adottò anche la tempera e l'acquerello (Ricordi veneziani, Interno di paese, Roma, Galleria Comunale d’Arte Moderna).

Dal 1904 fece parte del gruppo dei “XXV della Campagna Romana”. Morì a Roma nel 1935. | © Istituto Matteucci
