Georges d'Espagnat (1870-1950) was a French🎨 Impressionist painter and engraver, known for his depictions of figures, still lifes and landscapes.
D'Espagnat made more than a thousand canvases, using the vivid colors of the Fauvist painters, highlighting them with darker lines like in Renoir's works.
Made in the tradition of his mentor Pierre-Auguste Renoir🎨, d’Espagnat believed that paintings should adhere to the formal concern of artists like Tintoretto🎨, while also taking cues from nature.


Born on August 14, 1870 in Melun, France, he moved with his family to Paris in the 1880s, where he studied the work of Old Masters in the Louvre Museum.

In 1888, he started studying at the School of Decorative Arts and at the School of Fine Arts.
He would go on to exhibit in the Salon des Refusés and in the company of Henri Matisse🎨 and Pierre Bonnard🎨 in the years that followed.


During his career, the artist also illustrated books by the authors Alphonse Daudet and Remy de Gourmont. D’Espagnat died on April 17, 1950 in Paris, France.
His works are held in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Musée d’Orsay in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, among others.

Realizzato secondo la tradizione del suo mentore Pierre-Auguste Renoir🎨, d'Espagnat credeva che i dipinti dovessero aderire alla preoccupazione formale di artisti come Tintoretto🎨, prendendo anche spunti dalla natura.
Nato il 14 agosto 1870 a Melun, in Francia, si trasferì con la sua famiglia a Parigi negli anni ottanta del 1800, dove studiò l'opera degli antichi maestri nel Museo del Louvre.
Ha continuato ad esporre al Salon des Refusés e in compagnia di Henri Matisse🎨 e Pierre Bonnard🎨 negli anni seguenti.
Disegnatore ed incisore di talento, collaborò con numerosi periodici illustrati come "The French Courier" (1895-1896), "La Critique e Le Rire" (1899-1912). È autore di litografie originali.


Durante la sua carriera, l'artista ha anche illustrato libri degli autori Alphonse Daudet e Remy de Gourmont.
D’Espagnat morì il 17 aprile 1950 a Parigi, in Francia.
Le sue opere sono conservate, tra le altre cose, nelle collezioni dell'Art Institute di Chicago, del Musée d'Orsay di Parigi e del Metropolitan Museum of Art di New York.
