Algernon Mayon Talmage R.A., R.O.I. (1871-1939) was a minor British Impressionist painter.
Talmage is best known for tutoring Emily Carr during her studies at St Ives in England when he lived and worked in his studio which was then called 'The Cabin' located on Westcotts Quay, St Ives.



Emily Carr (1871-1945) was one of the first painters in Canada to adopt a Modernist and Post-Impressionist painting style.
His criticism was a significant early influence on her work, encouraging her earliest forays into the forest paintings that would eventually become her trademark.
Carr's vivid palette grew from his critical reminder that "there is sunlight in the shadows".

The well-known Australian painter Sir John William Ashton, OBE, ROI (1881-1963) was another of his students.

Il Talmage è meglio conosciuto per aver insegnato a Emily Carr, durante i suoi studi a St Ives, in Inghilterra, quando visse e lavorò nel suo studio che fu poi chiamato "The Cabin" situato a Westcotts Quay, St Ives.


Emily Carr (1871-1945), è stata una delle prime pittrici Canadesi ad adottare uno stile pittorico modernista e post-impressionista.
Le sue critiche hanno avuto un'influenza iniziale significativa sul suo lavoro, incoraggiando le sue prime incursioni nei dipinti forestali che sarebbero poi diventati il suo marchio di fabbrica.


La vivida tavolozza di Carr è cresciuta dal suo ricordo critico che "c'è luce solare nell'ombra".
Il noto pittore australiano Will Ashton era un altro dei suoi studenti. È stato eletto membro della Royal Society of British Artists nell'ottobre del 1902.
