Jules René Hervé (1887-1981) | Impressionist painter

Jules René Hervé🎨 was an French🎨 Academic painter, born in Langres, in Eastern France.

Known for his paintings of cityscapes and landscapes, Hervé painted in an Impressionistic style🎨 that captured the shimmering texture of the city and the softer light of the countryside.

Hervé began his formal art studies in an evening school in Langres, France. Hervé was trained at the Ecole nationale supérieure d’arts decoratifs of Paris, and studied with Fernand Cormon (French painter🎨 1845-1924) and Jules Adler🎨 (French painter, 1865-1952).

As early as 1910, his work was shown in Paris Salons where his paintings were described as “jewels” of French scenery.

The French Government awarded🎨 him a travelling scholarship in 1924 and in 1925 he won a Gold Medal.

He also won a golden medal at the International Paris Exhibition in 1937.

Between 1911-1943 he taught other artists and he also won the Belle Table Prize and the Leguay Prize.

His work has been purchased by the most of the leading museums in France and although he represented the purest tradition of French art and paints with great impressionism, he was completely unaffected by the current fashion of art. He has always sought to master the technical secrets of art and painted with a marvellous harmony of colour and light.

Elected Vice President of the Salon des Artistes Francais and a member of The Jury of the Society of French Artists🎨.

Suo zio Jules Alfred Hervé era insegnante di disegno. Allievo al college Diderot di Langres (Alta Marna) e predisposto per il disegno e la pittura, Jules-René Hervé si trasferì a Parigi nel 1908, dove proseguì gli studi presso la scuola di arti decorative.

Espone per la prima volta al Salon degli artisti francesi del 1910.

Dal 1911-1943 insegnò pittura a molte generazioni di artisti.

Ha ricevuto una medaglia d'argento🎨 al Salon degli artisti francesi del 1914.

Assoldato durante la prima guerra mondiale, mette in attesa la sua carriera.

Ha viaggiato in Europa grazie ad una sovvenzione del governo francese nel 1924.

Nel 1924, ha partecipato a una mostra a Belfort insieme a pittori di fama della Franca come Georges Fréset, Jules Adler🎨, Joseph-Paul Alizard e Jules-Alexis Muenier.

Gli fu conferita una medaglia d'oro al Salon des Artistes Français nel 1925 ed una medaglia d'oro🎨 all'Exposition Universelle nel 1937.

È stato eletto vicepresidente del Salon des Artistes Français.

Hervé è stato un pittore di scene della vita parigina.

Parigi, vista da Hervé, è la città della poesia, la "città delle luci" che dipinse sulla scia degli impressionisti.

Dipinse anche molte vedute della sua città natale e del sobborgo di Brévoines.

Era famoso anche per le sue scene di processioni religiose.
