Artur Muharremi is one of the most important Albanian contemporary painters. Muharremi has started to create before the political changes leading Albania to democracy took place. With his well known painting 'Before Creation' (1989), Muharremi was one of those very few artists, who shook off and warned the Albanian society of nineties against the crisis that was going to break. Artur Muharremi completed university studies of scenography and contributed actively and significantly as a painter and producer for the development transformation and qualitative amelioration of the animated film.

Nicola Simbari (1927-2012) was an Italian painter, known for working in the Impressionism style.

Born in Philadelphia, Birge Harrison was the brother of artist T. Alexander Harrison. He studied first at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1874, and later credited Thomas Eakins as a positive influence on his own teaching style. He then went to Paris on the advice of John Singer Sargent to study with Carolus-Duran and at the École des Beaux-Arts under Cabanel. In 1881 Harrison exhibited at the Paris Salon, and in 1882 his Salon entry, Novembre, became one of the first paintings by an American artist to be purchased by the French government.

When he assumed the government of the Spanish Netherlands, Leopold Wilhelm, being a great lover of art, employed several painters from the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke, including the great Dutch painter David Teniers the Younger, who he not only employed as a painter but as keeper of the collection of pictures he was then forming.
With the rank and title of "ayuda de camara", Teniers took up his abode in Brussels shortly after 1647.

Charles Auguste Émile Durand, known as Carolus-Duran (Lille 4 July 1837 - 17 February 1917 Paris), was a French painter and art instructor. He is noted for his stylish depictions of members of high society in Third Republic France.
Carolus-Duran studied at the Lille Academy and then at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
In 1861, he traveled to Italy and Spain for further study, especially devoting himself to the pictures of Velázquez.
His dramatic painting Murdered, or The Assassination (1866), was one of his first successes, and is now in the Lille museum.
