Born in Montreal, Celine Brossard devotes herself completely to her career in painting from her studio in the Laurentians.
Astonishingly prolific, her creative energy takes her successively from the medieval era to present days through her feminine portraits in continuous metamorphose. Whether it be women trapped, models or urban, they are witnesses of their time vacillating between seduction and their profound worries concerning their hindered freedom.
Astonishingly prolific, her creative energy takes her successively from the medieval era to present days through her feminine portraits in continuous metamorphose. Whether it be women trapped, models or urban, they are witnesses of their time vacillating between seduction and their profound worries concerning their hindered freedom.
The observer, charmed, subjugated, moved, feels called out to by the unusual glance of these women, gazing at a basic essential to be redefined. In her most recent paintings, there slips surreptitiously a free and fluid tendency towards the abstract, nevertheless keeping perceptible the human silhouette. We develop the feeling that her artistic development has reached maturity.
A talented colorist with perfectly balanced compositions, she relentlessly explores strong contrasts, light and textures, all the while showing a perfect mastery of mixed techniques. Her women, with an indisputably powerful presence, incite us to decode her intention, which each and every element reinforces. They captivate us, fascinate us, and bewitch us.
It is always with regret that our eyes and heart part from her paintings.
