Photographer Dan Borris and his wife Alejandra have created these tongue-in-cheek images of popular dog breeds positioned in classic yoga poses.
Alejandra is a former yoga instructor and current animal practitioner.
She holds and coaxes the pets as closely as possible to the final pose.
Dan snaps the photos and finishes the images in Photoshop. The result is a hilarious invitation to get in touch with your inner pup.
After all if a Golden Retriever can hold that yoga pose, so can you! Yoga Dogs is designed to put a smile on your face, and a little more flexibility in your spirit. Play, BarkÖBreathe. Play, Purr...Breathe.
Photographer Dan Borris was walking down the street one day with a friend when she suggested that he photograph her doing yoga while her dog ran around making her crazy. Inspiration struck!
Why bother with humans?
Dogs should do yoga! It was in that moment that Yoga Dogs was born.
With the help of Dan’s wife Alejandra, years of research followed. Thousands of canine auditions. Hours of training.
Practice, practice, practice (hey, it’s yoga).
Finally the first Yoga Dog was ready to be photographed and she was their own dog Mela, a natural born yogini.
Many dogs followed. Later, when the dogs went to the cats, again it was their own cat, Snoosh who stepped up his game with an amazing Adho Mukha Vrksasana pose.
Then along came Yoga Puppies and Yoga Kittens and the rest is history.
Daniel Borris created "Yoga Dogs," a full-color collection of 45 different dogs and puppies doing human yoga poses.
Don't worry: No animals were harmed during the making of the images; instead, their extreme flexibility can be chalked up to some very effective digital trickery.
The results are silly and curious all at once, and the inherently humorous pictures are complemented by information about the poses and some funny and punny canine meditations.
I cani dovrebbero fare yoga!
