Yuqi Wang / 王玉琦 was born in China, 1958. He now lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

His work has been collected by many public institutions, including: the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. , the Art Museum of Harvard University, China National Gallery, as well as by private collectors all over the world.

His work has been recognized with awards both nationally and internationally, winning the "Grand Prize" at The International Portrait Competition of the Portrait Society of America and "Second Prize" at The Portrait Competition of the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C., among others.

Théo Van Rysselberghe and the Neo-impressionism

Théo (Théophile) van Rysselberghe (1862-1926) discovered the pointillist technique when he saw Georges Seurat's La Grande Jatte at the eighth impressionist exhibition in Paris in 1886.

Together with Henry Van de Velde, Georges Lemmen, Xavier Mellery, Willy Schlobach and Alfred William Finch and Anna Boch he "imported" this style to Belgium.

Seurat was invited to the next salon of Les XX in Brussels in 1887.

Georgius Jacobus Johannes van Os (1782-1861), Dutch painter**, was a 19th century flower painter from the Northern Netherlands. According to the RKD he was a son and pupil of the flower painter Jan van Os and a brother of the painters Pieter van Os and Maria Margaretha van Os (1779-1862).
In 1809 he won the first prize of the Society Felix Meritis in Amsterdam for a still life in which genre he later specialized. Van Os became Ridder in de orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw in 1812.

Valentine Bartholomew

Valentine Bartholomew [1799-1879], British painter, became an early member of the Society of Painters in WaterColours, which he joined in 1835. In 2006, he received first prize in the Second Painting Competition, which was held in the name of mayor in Ümraniye. In 2008, he received a merit award in the 69th State Painting and Sculpture Competition. Currently, Özbakır continues to paint at his workshop in Adana.

Karl Kaufmann | Landscape painter

Karl Kaufmann (1843-1902) started his artistic education at the Academy of Vienna. He subsequently travelled through European countries, such as Norway, the Netherlands, Germany or Italy.

Kaufmann developed a sensitive feeling for environments and atmospheres, which helped him to specialise in landscape and architectural painting.

One special feature of his oeuvre is his habit to sign his works with pseudonyms.

Franco Gentilini (1909-1981)

Italian painter Franco Gentilini was born in 1909 in Faenza (RA), Italy. Worked as a ceramist in Faenza and collaborated with Giovanni Romagnoli and Giorgio Morandi in Bologna.

He took part in numerous editions of the Venice Biennale, beginning with the acceptance of his work for the 17th Esposizione Internazionale d’Arte della Città of Venice in 1930, when he also visited Paris.

Lyonel Feininger (1871-1956), American-born German painter, was the son of a concert violinist and a singer and pianist from Germany.

In 1887 Feininger followed his parents to Europe, where he attended the drawing and painting class at the "Gewerbeschule" in Hamburg and then studied at the "Königliche Kunst-Akademie" in Berlin from 1888-1892.

For one year he subsequently attended the private art school of the Italian sculptor Filippo Colarossi in Paris.

Ieri sera alle 18.00, con la Celebrazione della Solennità di Tutti i Santi nella Cappella Sistina, Benedetto XVI, ripeteva lo stesso gesto in omaggio al capolavoro assoluto di Michelangelo a 500 anni di distanza esatti.
