Matteo Arfanotti, 1974 | Magic Realism painter

Internationally renowned painter, Matteo Arfanotti is a versatile artist, curious and always fascinated by new forms of art and experimentation.
After dedicating more than two decades to drawing, painting and installation, in 2010, he approached the world of bodypainting and remained fascinated by the extraordinary ability to give life to his work and his creatures, even if so ephemeral, for the space of a few hours.


Only two years later, he won the title of Italian Bodypainting Champion and in 2013 he took the top step of the podium at the World Bodypainting Festival, becoming World Body Painting and Facepainting Champion, winning two world titles at the same time, for the first time in the history of the event.
Numerous other awards followed in subsequent years in Italy and abroad, opening to him the doors of the five continents.
He is indeed one of the most respected teachers in this discipline, particularly appreciated for his three-dimensional effects and the "monstrous faces" with which he creates the illusion of changing characteristics and facial expressions.

Nato a Sarzana (SP), si è diplomato presso il Liceo Scientifico della sua città e nel 2004 si è laureato in Architettura presso l’Università degli Studi di Firenze.
La sua vera passione rimane da sempre la pittura in cui riesce magistralmente ad esprimere emozioni e turbamenti attraverso un linguaggio fatto di magia, sogno e mistero che si concretizza nelle forme primitive della terra di Luni.
Le statue stele, variamente raffigurate in scenari diurni e notturni nelle opere passate di questo pittore, subiscono un lento e progressivo processo di umanizzazione e geometrizzazione fino a diventare figure totemiche.
Le figure di Arfanotti spesso appaiono mute, in realtà hanno il dono di comunicare senza parole, di rafforzare il nostro senso di appartenenza ad un passato e ad un futuro comune, senza formalismi didascalici.
Il messaggio che il pittore vuole comunicare è quindi chiaro, semplice e allo stesso tempo molto intenso: qualunque siano le nostre origini, la nostra cultura, la religione che professiamo o il tempo in cui viviamo, il legame con la nostra terra e con la Natura nella sua globalità resta indissolubile e alla base di ogni futuro.
